Unifying Body, Mind and Soul

Massage Therapy Treatments

Swedish Massage

This full body massage soothes the nervous system and increases the bodies parasympathetic response (rest and digest). This insures a deep state of relaxation, promotes digestion, deepens the breath and slows the heart rate. By increasing the parasympathetic response, the sympathetic response (fight or flight) decreases which hinders the production of stress hormones. This process allows the immune system to boost. By enhancing the immune system, illness' are more easily fought, our energy levels are raised, and the body and mind are able to function at a more optimal state.

Deep Tissue Massage

The Gnarly Knot's deep tissue massage uses the same approach as the Swedish massage but with more pressure applied, accessing deeper layers of muscle tissue.  This type of massage may also incorporate various therapeutic techniques such as; neuromuscular therapy, active muscle release, stretching, and myofascial release. These techniques help to increase flexibility, release tension, decrease pain and improve range of motion.

Pre/Post-Natal Massage

This massage is tailored for a woman according to her specific stage of pregnancy and her individual needs. A pre-natal massage is a wonderful treatment for any expectant mother as it promotes a healthy birthing process. A post-natal massage focus' on the mothers individual needs. Whether she's experiencing upper body tension due to nursing, scaring due to surgery, tension to the hips or low back or sciatica due to low back compression and compensation from excess weight or built up emotional tension from the birthing experience, her needs will be soothed and nurtured.

Lymphatic Wellness Massage

A lymphatic wellness massage enhances the immune system by refreshing the lymphatic system by encouraging the emptying of stagnant and toxic lymphatic fluid into the lymph ducts. This massage consists of repetitive light stroking and gentle pumping of the superficial tissues of the skin. It can be applied to patients who are seeking a general full body treatment or to prevent edema in cases where lymph nodes were surgically removed or to decrease existing mild edema.
